Transmission of 8×10 Gb/s WDM channels over 70 dB of standard SMF based on advanced first-order raman co-pumping

Benefits provided by a new high-power and low-noise laser for efficient first-order Raman copumping are experimentally investigated. 8×10 Gb/s WDM channels have been successfully transmitted over 70dB of standard single-mode fiber with realistic system margins. © 2006 Optical Society of America.
