Chemical and hydrobiological characteristics of a riverine-coastal water system: the case of the Tiber River mouth

A classification of river water quality is shown. The chemical characteristics (nutrients, heavy metals), as well as the different pollution effects on biological communities (benthic macroinvertebrates and periphyton) in the last stretch are described. The river's impact on the sea is described on the basis of hydrodynamical data as well as on the chemical and biological characteristics of the coastal area. -from Authors
