Note introduttive per una riflessione sulla memoria orale del paesaggio

A reflection on oral memory and landscape: introductory notes. - Over the course of time, societies have attributed a symbolic value to certain places according to their own cultural references and different lifestyles. These places become endowed with such emotional strength and special "energheia" that in turn they produce mental images which are easily retained in the memorization process. The memory may thus allow one to remember a glorious past as well as not to forget special places, so called meaningful "topoi", which evoke traditions deeply rooted in individual and collective consciousnesses. The aim of this essay is to shed some light on the oral traditions and community memory of villages located in the Marsica territory of Abruzzi (Italy). In addition, we aim to lay the foundations for a reflection on the key role that oral narrative production may have in evoking traces of landscape.
