abstract:
A method of otaining the coefficients of the nonlinear rolling motion equation from roll decay recordings is presented. This method is based on the least squares fit of the numerical solution of the differential equation in the time domain to experimental data. It appears that the method allows to use more points than the traditional methods based on the analysis of the maxima of the extinction curve.
