Abstract:
Here, we describe an open-source software specifically developed for managing computerized medical records.
The information managed by the system include patient's vital statistics, anamnesis and risk factors, information related to the connections between patient and healthcare organization (hospitalizations, day hospital, day surgery, etc.) and some further data related to the medical examinations performed.
From an architectural point of view, the system is composed of a modular distributed back-end and of a front-end implementing the user interface. Its components are capable of interacting with other clinical computerized systems, making it simple to be modified and adjusted to different scopes.
Overall, our aim was to implement a modular system that could be installed in different situations, exclusively using the necessary modules. The system is conceived to be flexible, easily configurable, technologically advanced, and optimized for small-medium enterprises, not entering competitions with complex products developed by big companies.
