Eurofusion integrated modelling platform in support of ETS

Abstract:
Modelling platform was introduced several years ago in order to support integrated modelling activities in Europe. European Transport Simulator (ETS) is a workflow that was developed and is supported in the frame of the platform to model the fusion plasmas. The main features provided by the ETS are: machine independent modelling - modelling could be performed for different tokamak devices in the same workflow multiple programming language support - codes written on multiple programming languages can be integrated into the workflow large number of integrated physics models - physics model can be chosen from the list of available models to describe different plasma processes (equilibrium, transport, heating and current drive). Number of tools are available in the modelling platform to support the ETS development and usage. The simulation data is stored in the standardized form in the number of data structure entries and can be accessed using interface routines developed in the multiple programming languages. The version 6 of the ETS is using the ITER IMAS (Integrated Modelling and Analysis Suite) infrastructure. The physics codes are integrated into the workflow using FC2K tool. The user friendly interface (autoGui) is developed to launch the simulations. Workflow orchestration tool (Kepler) is used to develop, manage and execute simulation workflows. The suite of python based visualization tools is used for pre- and post-processing. In this work, the tools are presented available in the Eurofusion modelling platform together with examples of using the tools to support ETS simulations.
