La nuova immagine della villa del Casale di Piazza Armerina nel contesto dell'archeologia delle ville tardoantiche

New research recently carried out at the Villa del Casale in Piazza Armerina allow us to provide a picture of the monument profoundly different from the one existing in the scientific literature until a few years ago. This article presents the main results of the archaeological investigations led by the Sapienza University of Rome since 2004 and discusses other recent studies on the villa, within the broader context of the research on the late Roman villas that have had a significant parallel development in recent years.
