Environmental sustainability in buyer-logistics service provider relationships: a case study analysis

Despite the growing importance of environmental sustainability in logistics and SCM, little has been written in relation with factors influencing green initiatives and performance in dyadic buyer-3PLs relationships. The main aim of this paper is to drivers and barriers influencing environmental sustainability actions and performance in a set of Finnish buyer and 3PLs using a multiple case study research approach. The results indicate that the value of environmental sustainability in logistics service sourcing and supply is still low and there is still room for innovative solutions for increasing supply chain efficiency and added value for both customers and service providers
