A novel dietary sesquiterpene from the marine sacoglossan Tridachia crispata

A new monocyclofarnesol-derived sesquiterpene, crispatenine (1), has been isolated along with known both sesquiterpenes and propionates, from a Venezuelan collection of the sacoglossan Tridachia crispata and its structure has been elucidated by spectral analysis. Chemical analysis of a population of the same mollusc from Mexico has showed a different metabolite pattern.
