Abstract:
Present work is aimed at studying the spray-wall interaction at different ambient conditions inside a constant volume high-pressure vessel. A high-speed C-Mos camera allocated in a combined Mie-scattering/schlieren optical configuration was able to acquire liquid and vapor phases in a quasi-simultaneous fashion using the same optical path. This methodology allowed complementing the liquid phase with the gas/vapor one resolved in the injection cycle. Iso-octane fluid was injected using a Spray G eight-hole injector from the Engine Combustion Network (ECN) circuit. Spatial and temporal evolutions were measured through several image processing steps for both the phases in terms of width slipping and thickness growth. The wall temperatures ranged within 293 and 573 K, at the injection pressure of 20.0 MPa. A homemade algorithm extracted the contours of impact evolution. Spatial and temporal growth on the wall, in terms of fuel slipping and rebounding, were measured for both the liquid and vapor/atomized phases.
