S & T indicators to comply with user needs. Experience at the Research Area of CNR in Bologna, Italy

Procedures to provide omogeneous and easy to update scientometric indicators, making use of the bibliographic database Current Contents (Institute for Scientific Information, Philadelphia, USA), have been adopted by the Library of CNR (National Research Council) located in Bologna (Italy). The Current Contents database is updated every week and contains the papers published up to the last three months in the core journals of any given field. GOALS: To provide a useful tool apt to scan scientific activities at national, regional, municipal levels as well as to analyse single Institutions' production, complementary to scientific papers, which can answer specific information needs, with a great degree of updateness.
