Abstract:
Many varies metabolic changes take place on different tissue following thyroid hormone alteration, either occurring naturally or induced in laboratory animals. Recently we observed that in rats liver and heart the activity of some enzymes of ketone-body metabolisms respond to thyroid hormone administration on differently from other enzymes. The activity of D-3 hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase (EC 1. 1. 1. 30) both in the liver and heart and that of succinil CoA: 3-oxoacid CoA-transferase (EC 2. 8. 3. 5) in the heart were reduced by about 35% ND 30%, respectively, in hyperthyroid rats. (1). The same enzyme activities have now measured in the kidney of these animals and compared to those of other enzymes.
