The role of HB on the H-atom-donating abilities of catechols and naphthalene diols and on a previously overlooked aspect of thier infrared spectra

Catechols and naphthalene diols have alpha values ranging from 0.685 to 0.775 indicating that these compounds form strong HB. Their reaction with DPPH is very fast and the infrared spectra varies according to the nature of the HBA base.
