Per la cura del soprosso in tre ricette in volgare siciliano: Ms. Parigi, BNF, lat. 7018

Three Sicilian vernacular recipes, still unpublished, are edited here, handed on in the inferior edge of the folios 22v-23v included in the ms. Paris, Bibliotèque nationale de France, lat. 7018. It is one of the mss. that have transmitted Laurentius Rusius's Liber Marescalcie equorum. The recipes, a single hand work, written in 15th century "mercantesca" deal with the care of the soprosso, vernacular word defining a tissue excrescence forming on the horses' legs close to a bone, because of an inflammatory process resulting from a traumatic event. even if there are several points in common with the Rusius' treatise, especially with the chapter CVIII De superossibus, some lexical elements completely extraneous to the aforementioned chapter brings up the hypothesis that the three recipes are a readaptation made by the compiler-copyst (maybe a veterinary) himself. He is an user of Rusius' therapeutic suggestions for the general subject, but then he readapts the text in accordance with his scopes, providing us his personal care.
