Abstract:
In this work a modification process is described, which is used to restore density maps of anatomic cross-sections obtained by means of a ?-camera. Density maps are obtained with the aid of a ?-ray linear source which irradiates the chest of patients under rest: radiations which are orthogonally diffracted by Compton scattering are detected by a large-field ?-camera with a planar collimator parallel to the primary beam direction. Patterns formed on the camera CRT are photographed and digitized and the resulting matrices are then processed with a digital computer in order to restore the actual density of scanned tissues. Pixels of Compton scattering images are badly affected by several distortions. Some partially interactive restoring algorithms are executed in order to reduce noise and distortion.
