The design of a multimedia office filing system

In this paper the filing and retrieval of office documents is discussed. In particular some important feature of such office activity like the document modelling, the document content-based retrieval, the document storage, the document dynamics are presented. An architecture for an Office Filing System based on the Client-Server paradigm is derived and proposed. A functional model for both the Client and the Server is presented. The functional components of these two subsystems are described. Finally the main features of a Document Query Language are outlined.
