Combustion of methane-hydrogen mixtures on catalytic tablets

Abstract:
Catalytic micro-combustors have been developed via deposition of active layers of Pt/gamma-Al(2)O(3), LaMnO(3)/gamma-Al(2)O(3) and Pt-LaMnO(3)/gamma-Al(2)O(3) on FeCralloy and alpha-Al(2)O(3) slabs. Diffusional resistance in the gas phase have been experimental excluded, even if catalyst is present on only one side of the reactor. Pt/gamma-Al(2)O(3) gave best performances in the combustion of H(2) while LaMnO(3)/gamma-Al(2)O(3) revealed to be the best catalyst for methane combustion. The mixture Pt-LaMnO(3) supported on gamma-Al(2)O(3) showed intermediate properties for both fuels.
