Variability of interactions of pytoplankton and bacterioplankton in the Varano lagoon (Adriatic Sea)

Bacterial abundance was investigated in Varano lagoon for a twelve month period. Its concentrations were found to be quite high (1.8 ± 2.2 x 1 million cells/ml) as well as being coupled with phytoplankton biomass and P content. However, an inverse relationship with nitrogen was detected.
