Abstract:
In the last few years the green vision of membrane technology get widener in the production of membranes via phase inversion, with the use of bio-polymers and less toxic solvents which demonstrated to be able to replace the most common traditional solvents. In this work, new green membranes made ofpolylactic acid(PLA), a natural biopolymer, and methyl 5-(dimethylamino)-2-methyl-5-oxopentanoate (Polarclean®) as new eco-friendly solvent, have been studied. Polymeric and mixed matrix membranes with two different structures were prepared. The morphology, pore-size, swelling, contact angle and the application of the produced membranes in water treatment and pervaporation, were studied.
