Spectroscopic and structural investigation of BaNaP3O9.3H(2)O cyclotriphosphate

The cyclotriphosphate BaNaP3O9.3H(2)O was re-investigated by X-ray diffraction and vibrational spectroscopy. Raman and infrared spectra of BaNaP3O9.3H(2)O have been recorded and interpreted on the basis of factor group analysis. The occurrence of the nu(as) and nu s (POP and exo-cyclic group PO2) in the vibrational spectra confirm the existence of the cycle P3O93-. The absence of coincidences for the majority of the IR and Raman bands observed for this compound is in accord with results of re-determination of centrosymmetric structure.
