Abstract:
The surface soil moisture (SSM) product developed in the Exploit-S-1 project is derived from time series of VV&VH Sentinel-1 (S-1) observations and delivered at a spatial resolution of ~1 km. A companion SSM standard deviation product at 1 km is delivered as additional information layer. This dataset includes the SSM maps generated over the project validation sites: Apulian Tavoliere in Italy, Elm Creek in Canada, HOBE in Denmark, Little Washita in Oklahoma (USA), REMEDHUS in Spain, TxSON in Texas (USA), Yanco in Australia.
The SSM maps are derived from the Short Term Change Detection (STCD) algorithm (see D2.1& D2.1A) selected as the most promising SSM retrieval algorithm in the study (see D2.8& D2.8A). The detailed description of the Exploit-S-1 SSM Product by using the Exploit-S-1 software [D2.7&D2.7A] is given in [D2.3&D2.3A].
