Effects of substrate nanopatterning on human osteosarcoma cells (SaOs-2) behavior

Abstract:
Engineering of the cellular microenvironment has become an attractive strategy to guide cellular activities such as spreading, motility, proliferation and differentiation. From a technological perspective, the physical crosstalk between a cell and its surrounding represents a design parameter that may be modulated to achieve desired osseointegration in orthopedic and dental implants. In this study we use a surface engineering approach to tap into the interaction between the cell and its surroundings in order to modulate osteogenic adhesion-dependent differentiation and bone tissue formation.
