The monitoring of underwater noise relevant for environmental status assessment in strategic areas of the Mediterranean Sea. The development of an innovative cost effective real-time underwater acoustic monitoring capable of testing the Marine Strategy Framework Directive descriptors (11.1 and 11.2) for GES (good environmental status) and enabling a preliminary risk assessment for marine fauna, particularly marine mammals.
