Bipolar miniaturized proton exchange fuel cell full integrated in a micromachined silicon surface

Abstract:
Recent advances in the understanding of microscale micromachining fabrication and thermo and electrical transport suggest tremendous enhancements in heat and mass transport and electrochemistry could be obtained by engineering fuel cells at this scale. We anticipate potential order of magnitude improvements in fuel cell performance can be achieved through concerted design efforts focussed on the exploitation of micro-scale phenomena for fuel cell systems design.
