Abstract:
The Artistic Lyceum of Naples was born with the School Reform by Minister Gentile in 1923 within The Academy of Fine Arts and it still keeps its original name. The only Artistic Lyceum on the mainland south of Rome until the '80s, and then, the only Artistic Lyceum of Naples until 2010, the school is now hosted in the monumental complex of SS. Apostoli. During the '70s, in order to abridge the Lyceum, it was restored by Arch. M. Rispoli who bestowed its original beauty. Its little known artistic value includes: the entrance to its undergrounds with spiral staircase in shape of windowed pit; parts of the ancient Greek aquaducts said "Della Bolla" and Carmignani of 1600; the historical library; the spiral staircase. The real cultural heritage of the Lyceum is its own history that intertwines with the artistic history of Naples itself. Its outstanding professors were: G. Aprea, V. Migliaro, G. Chiaromonte, C. Cecola, G. Godi, D. Spinosa, A. De Stefano, A. Perez, M. Colucci, R. Lippi, G. Tatafiore, F. Capasso, M. Persico, C. Alfano, R. Iandolo, B. Starita, G. Pirozzi, R. Panaro, E. Ruotolo
