Special issue. Lessons from the past: the evolution of seismic protection techniques in the history of building

The volume presents some anti-seismic techniques used by several societies in the past. The variety of the issues presented in the papers testifies to the importance of studying deeply the historical constructions and the anti-seismic techniques used by the ancient peoples. Furthermore, Structural Health Monitoring is a must to extend the life span of historical constructions, with light and preventive maintenance.
