«La tua loquela ti fa manifesto / di quella nobil patrïa natio...». I fatti di lingua come strumento per la localizzazione geografica dei manoscritti (primi esempi dalle varietà toscane medievali)

The article focuses on the problems and difficulties associated with the possibility of geographically localizing medieval manuscripts on the sole basis of the language of the texts contained (only medieval Tuscan varieties are considered, but the bibliography goes well beyond the borders of this region and also lists reliable works on the northern, central and southern Italian varieties). Having exposed and explained the characteristic linguistic features of the various parts of Tuscany, the author immediately tests his method of analysis by applying it to three XIII-XIV century mss. preserved in Florentine libraries.
