Nuovi dati dal territorio di Licata (AG) in età arcaica e classica : le aree di C. da Casalicchio, Monte Agrabona e Portella di Corso

New data from the territory of Licata (AG) in the Arcaic and Classical ages : the areas of C.da Casalicchio, Monte Agrabona and Portella di Corso · The project "Finziade e la Bassa valle dell'Himera Meridionale", conducted since 2009 by the DiCAM - University of Messina, more recently in collaboration with the cnr-ibam of Catania, has covered, almost entirely, with surface surveys, the territory of Licata (AG), with the aim of reconstructing the historical evolution of the settlement dynamics in this important area located at the mouth of the southern Himera. The main feature that emerges from the global study of the area is that there are no traces of a polis in the archaic and classical age. The data, on the other hand, allow us to identify, for these periods, a settlement process characterized by scattered rural areas of varying sizes. The sites of Monte Agrabona, C.da Casalicchio and Portella di Corso represent exemplary cases of these dynamics, returning traces of inhabitation between the sixth and fourth BC, when there is a clear interruption, widely documented in the neighboring sites.
