A system for biomedical image acquisition and processing

The SIRAD system far digital radiology is presented _ This system has been designed within the "Tecnologie Biomediche e Sanitarie" Special Project of the Italian National Research Council; SIRAD consists of a number of special devices far radiogram acquisition, a computing system and equipment for image restitution, and also a modular software processing package. The paper describes the criteria followed during the design of SIRAD and results obtained on images relative to certain medical applications are given.
