Abstract:
A new 9,11-secosterol, glaciasterol B 3-monoacetate (Ia) has been isolated from the Tyrrhenian sponge Fasciospongia cavernosa. The structure of these new compound was solved by analysis of spectroscopic data. Glaciasterol B 3-monoacetate showed potent activity (LC50 = 0.54 mu g/ml) in the Artemia salina bioassay.
