The power supply system for the active control of MHD modes in RFX

The power supply system of the 192 saddle coils for the active control of MHD modes in the RFX machine, with thin shell, is described in the paper. Particular emphasis is given to some critical aspects, such as the optimization of a.c./d.c. converter control and the design and the experimental tests of the output filters, aimed at reducing the noise on the plasma diagnostic equipments produced by the d.c./d.c. converters.
