This paper is dedicated to the examination of political and dynastic events of Arborea's Judicate in the last two decades of the fourteenth century and, especially, to the figures of Brancaleone Doria, Count of Monteleone, and Mariano V judge of Arborea (1392/1393-1407), viewed against the background of Western Mediterranean political landscape. Some doubts about the family connection between the two personalities, already advanced in earlier publications, are confirmed by the sources
