The depth and persistence of the myth of the Borgias in the European historiography of the French treatises on the history of Italian politics have characterized the Congress of Bologna: the family fortune to the historical myth of the policy and in particular the Valentino Borgia as the foundation of the new political thinking at the base of 'idea of the modern state.
