The international conference was organized by the National Committee study meetings for the fifth centenary of Pope Alexander VI, by the "Rome in the Renaissance," the relations between Italy and Iberian Institute of the National Research Council and the Department of Classical Philology, linguistics and science historical antiquity and the Middle Ages at the University of Cagliari. Alexander VI was certainly a Pope who marked their time, but also had the luck to live extraordinary events that would change the course of history: the great geographical discoveries, the discovery of Brazil, the evangelization of the New World were themes important that required a moment of reflection. The conference on the pontificate of the Borgia focus, in this case, the role of the pope and the papacy in the relations between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic Ocean, between old and new world and seeks the projection European Union, in terms of political, cultural and religious, in the New world. The volume is accompanied by the index of abbreviations, names and manuscript sources.
