Mechanical Behaviour of Ceramic Filters for Automotive Emission Control

Cordierite monolithic structures as catalyst supports for the filtration of exhaust are going to be extensively used in order to control automotive gas emission. For this reason it is important to define the mechanical behaviour of such a component. Young's modulus and four-point bending strength were measured on as-fired, thermally shocked and thermally aged components.
