Genetic relationships among populations of the Oritoniscus paganus group (Crustacea, Isopoda, Oniscidea) from Corsica and Giannutri (Tuscan Archipelago)

The genetic structure of four populations (three from Corsica and one from Giannutri) belonging to the Oritoniscus paganus complex was examined by analysing allozime variations at 14 loci. Different levels of genetic distances were evidentiated: the two cave populations of O. paganus paganus were characterized by Nei's D =0.3, the same distance was found between O. paganus ocellatus and the population from Giannutri Island. A greater distance (Nei's D = 0.7) resulted from the pairwise comparison among all populations of these two groups. Low levels of genetic variability have been found for all the populations.
