Colour measurement on paintings

This paper reviews the published literature relative to the application of different methodologies for the measurement of colour and colour-changes in the cultural heritage, with particular emphasis on paintings. The evolution of instruments and techniques for measuring colour of cultural property with increased precision and reliability are discussed starting from the 1930's.
