This book will be addressed to research themes, topics and examples on sedimentation engineering, focusing on different depositional environments, both onshore and offshore and including river and deltaic systems, coastal areas and continental shelf. In the book context the sedimentation engineering typically includes the identification, the planning and the analysis of geological processes and practical investigations caused by the processes of sedimentation, including water, wind, gravity and ice, more than the human activities and the human impact in order to solve technical problems addressed to the civil engineering. Techniques of measurements and corresponding analyses will also be considered. Geological mapping and cartographic representation of Late Quaternary deposits in offshore areas may be put in a related geological context. Sediment transport and morphodynamics, transport of gravels and sediment mixtures, more than fines, streambank erosion, meandering of rivers and restoration of streams will also be acknowledged.
