abstract:
The intensive use of fossil fuels has enabled
an unprecedented improvement
of the quality of life during the last 100
years, but this golden age is poised to end
within the present century. Chemistry
will play a prominent role in the transition
to an energy-efficient and solar-powered
civilization. Examples of supramolecular
systems and metal complexes studied
in our laboratory, which are of interest
in the area of materials for solar energy
conversion and efficient lighting technologies
are briefly presented.
