abstract:
The present work describes an experiment conducted to test the contribution of aerial thermography for the evaluation of large scale buildings energy losses. The aerial thermography are candidate to play an important role in defining strategies for energy planning by assessing the possible effects of retraining the covers. A first test was conducted in the winter of 2012 acquiring night images with the TABI sensor at 50 cm spatial resolution for the municipalities of Agenda 21 Laghi in the Province of Varese 120 km2). An assessment of the information that can be derived to identify buildings with thermal discontinuity surfaces respect the surrounding zones has been carried out for the urban areas of Cittiglio. The first results showed that thermal images, properly processed, provide a thematic layer that can precisely highlight anomalous situations within the urban areas identifying which building are probably not efficient. The high spatial resolution of the data has also allowed to analyze the thermal discontinuity of a single buildings as possible clues to energy losses.
