Erbium-doped fiber lasers as a deep-sea hydrophones

abstract:
The present work deals with the development of a prototype of hydrophone for deep see acoustic detection. The base sensitive element is a single mode erbium-doped fiber laser. The high sensitivity make these sensors very suitable for a wide range of deep see acoustic applications, including the geological survey, the marine mammals survey and overall as acoustic sensors in the high energy cosmic neutrinos under-water telescopes.
