A compact fiber optic sensor for "in vivo" entero-gastric reflux detection

abstract:
The characteristics of an optical fiber sensor for the entero-gastric reflux are described. Two different probes are developed for 'in vivo' measurements making use of PCS fibers (200 ?m core diameter) and of a fiber bundle respectively. The performance of the sensor and of the two probes are discussed and experimental 'in vivo' results are reported.
