Restauro dell'edilizia storica nella città di Cagliari: il ruolo della caratterizzazione dei materiali calcarei delle antiche cave

The historical buildings of Cagliari were constructed using large quantities of miocenic limestones dimension stones, extracted from different quarries inside the actual urbun area. At present many buildings need of restoration wich requires the geo-petrographic and technological characterization of materials. Among the results obtained in this research work, of particular interest are the relations between the porous structure of lithotipes and their hygrometric properties (water sorptivity), wich are determing factors of mechanical and durability performances of the stone material.
