abstract:
Drawing from the concept of "planning", this paper aims at exploring the socio-cultural dimensions of the low fertility trends in Italy through the adoption of the interpretative lens of two cultural models: the culture of choice and the culture of responsibility. Within this perspective, the reproductive choice and the planning of becoming parents are discussed with a particular focus on the social representation of motherhood, the relationship between parenthood and the extra-domestic sphere.
