Climatic memory of 5 Italian deep lakes: secular variations

The climate memory of 5 deep lakes(Maggiore, Como, Garda, Iseo and Orta) shows a series of cooling and warming phases from 1887 to 2007 that cannot be attributed to the energy exchanges at the air-water interface alone. This underlines the complexity of the lakes ecosystems' response to the ongoing global change.
