On the action of Xanthoxylin on K+ uptake in wheat and maize roots.

The phytoalexin (produced in citrus after infection by Phytophthora citrophthora or Hendersonula) severely inhibited potassium uptake in wheat and maize roots apparently by decreasing the inflow rather than increasing outflow or leakage from treated tissues.
