Lithium fluoride optical waveguides: Progress in fabrication and characterization

abstract:
A brief overview of some recent results in the fabrication and characterization of optical guiding structures based on thin films of lithium fluoride is presented. These LiF structures are being developed with the main aim of obtaining an integrated broad-band tunable lasers operating in the visible spectrum. Properties and perspective of this approach are also discussed.
