Abstract:
The transmission function of a hemispherical electron spectrometer, the SES-144 (Osborne et al., Synchrotron Radiat. News, 7 (1) (1994) 25), has been determined for pass energies of 10, 20 and 50 eV in the kinetic energy range 7-60 eV. The method is based on the measurement of the intensity ratio between photoelectron lines with varying kinetic energies and the corresponding constant kinetic energy Auger lines using different photon energies of synchrotron radiation. With the aid of the obtained transmission curves, the "standard" Auger line intensities of the Xe N4,5OO Auger spectrum have been determined. Using these intensities as reference values, the transmission curves of other electron spectrometers can conveniently be found.
