Abstract:
Nanowires are significant potential candidates for the realization of the next generation of sensors since they
offer high surface-to-volume-ratios, Debye length comparable to interacting molecules and they can be
incorporated into microelectronic devices. Therefore, TiO2 electrospun nanofibers based chemoresistors were
successfully designed, manufactured and investigated in order to obtain versatile and highly performing
sensors for gas and volatile chemicals. Ease of deposition technique and its cost effective approach, strong
adhesion of the fibers on the substrate and stability over time, quick and selective responses to low
concentrations of several classes of VOCs, were some of the investigated basic features of the provided
sensors.
