Characterization and polypeptide composition of Phaseolus lunatus L. phaseolin-like seed storage protein

A phaseolin-related protein with sedimentation coefficient of 18S was characterized in Lima bean. It can be resolved by FPLC into four major oligomers which show in native conditions Mw in the range of 150-200 kDa. They contain three major polypeptides, one with Mw of about 37 kDa, and the other two in the form of doublet with Mw of 27 and 22 kDa. Relationship with phaseolin was confirmed by western blot analysis.
